We
feel honored to share Jonathan's story with those that
hang on to the hope of having a child to hold and love.
It all began 15 years ago, when my husband and I
married. We did not actively try to have a family right
away, because we were trying to wrap up our education
and head down the career path.
It was about 5 years into our marriage when we started
talking about how wonderful it would be to have a little
one to share our love with. Based on prior issues with
my reproductive system (PCOS and didelphys uterus), we
knew that getting pregnant would probably not be easy. I
started out having lots of testing done, then spent some
time taking Clomid, charting temperatures, etc (not at
Dr. Vasquez's office). The disappointment each time I
read the negative pregnancy test finally led me to
abandon treatment. I really did not feel like anyone
could help me conceive at that point - I lost hope of
giving birth to a child.
About 10 years into our marriage, we decided to adopt.
We thought that our chances of a successful IVF
treatment were slim to none, so we wanted to go with
something we felt would guarantee us a child in the end.
Right before our 11 year anniversary, we brought home a
beautiful daughter, Alayna, from Guatemala. Because we
could not afford another adoption, we felt certain
Alayna would be an only child, which we were perfectly
okay with. She was certainly the answer to our prayers
and was our little angel.
In January 2006 we realized that our new insurance plan
covered IVF. We had secretly hoped that Alayna would
have a sibling, so we felt that we had to give IVF a
try. I called one of my co-workers that had been to a
doctor for reproductive issues... she told me his name
was Dr. Jaime Vasquez. Within a day or two, I mentioned
our plans to another friend who has had fertility
problems. She said she could recommend someone...his
name was Dr. Jaime Vasquez. We knew it was fate - we had
to see Dr. Vasquez.
As they say, the rest is history. We went in with zero
expectations given all of the past failed attempts. Dr.
Vasquez ran some tests then gave us something we had
given up long before - the HOPE of having
another child. We went through IVF during the summer of
2006. It worked.... THE FIRST TIME. It was a miracle!
Being pregnant was one of the most amazing feelings I
have ever experienced. I think it is something I had
always longed for, but a feeling I had suppressed to
avoid the pain of not being able to conceive.
GOD blessed us with our son Jonathan on March 18, 2007.
He is such a loving addition to our family. We are so
incredibly grateful to Dr. Vasquez and his AMAZING
staff. They work together to make you feel so
comfortable. They become your family... they are the
most compassionate folks I have ever encountered in a
doctor's office.
So don't give up HOPE. Keep
praying and go see Dr. Vasquez!
