When
my husband and I married in 2000 we decided to start
our family after he completed law school in 2003.
However, I was diagnosed with amenorrhea when I
stopped having periods in college, and I knew that
our chances of conceiving were slim to none.
Fortunately, I was given ClomidŽ by my OB/GYN which
was effective in making me ovulate, and through
IUI
we became pregnant with our first child, Madelyn,
who was born February 25, 2004.
Madelyn has been such a
wonderful blessing to us, and we knew that we wanted
nothing more than to give her a sibling.
Unfortunately, it would not be so easy this go
around due to the fact the ClomidŽ that I had taken
in 2003 elevated my liver enzymes to the point that
my doctor did not feel comfortable prescribing it
again. We were given two options: we could try
another IUI with injectable medications or we could
bite the bullet and go through an
IVF
cycle. It seemed reasonable to try IUI since that
had worked with our daughter therefore; we elected
to proceed with an IUI. However, we were
disappointed to learn the IUI didn’t work this
time. I became very discouraged at this point
because my husband and I were somewhat split on
where to go from here. He felt that we were blessed
to have one healthy child and that was enough for
him. I, on the other hand, desperately wanted at
least one more child and was determined to do
whatever it took to make that happen. My husband
and I agreed to try IVF at least one time and
promised each other that if it didn’t work we would
stop there. This decision terrified me knowing how
desperately I wanted another child and that I only
had one chance to make it happen. I set out to find
the best doctor, nurse, etc. possible since this was
my one and only chance of fulfilling my dreams of
having another child.
One day my best friend recommended that I see Dr.
Vasquez at the Center for Reproductive Health. She
said she had a wonderful experience with them and
felt confident that I would too. We decided to make
an appointment with Dr. Vasquez, and after our
consultation I knew that without a doubt he was the
doctor for us. It was obvious from day one that Dr.
Vasquez takes a special interest in each patient and
that his staff is very attentive to the needs of
everyone who walks through their doors. We truly
felt that we would get the best care here and if
anyone could get me pregnant it would be Dr.
Vasquez. I had total confidence in both Dr. Vasquez
and his staff. I must say the whole IVF process can
be very stressful, but everyone at CRH was so
accommodating and
wonderful
to answer any and all questions, make us feel at
ease, and create a wonderful feeling of trust that
they had it all under control and were watching our
case very closely.
On April 26, 2007, we were once again blessed with
not one, not two, but three siblings for Madelyn.
Samuel Neece "Sam", Taylor McLayne "McLayne", and
John Alexander "Alex", were born at 11:39, 11:40 and
11:41am. They weighed 4 lbs, 4 lbs 5 oz and 3lbs 14
oz. All three babies are perfectly healthy and a
wonderful addition to our family.
I am so thankful for my large family and all of the
craziness that it entails. I thank God each and
every day for all four of my little miracles and for
leading us to CRH to fulfill our baby dreams!!!
